Tributary - Framed Original Artwork
This is a one-of-a-kind original alcohol ink piece created on Yupo paper and framed in a gorgeous white wood. This piece is extra special, as it was selected for exhibition at the Banyule Award for Works on Paper in 2019 - the theme: "Threshold". Upon purchase, the collector will receive a printed copy of the artist statement which accompanied this thoughful piece at the exhibition.
"The marine environment is fast‑approaching a critical threshold, with pollution expected to cause irreversible impact within just over one lifetime. "Tributary" illustrates one way pollution can damage marine ecosystems – through the formation of ‘dead-zones’ (where marine pollutants deplete oxygen to an extent that the area becomes uninhabitable). Tributary’s blue flowing centre is reminiscent of a healthy, oxygenated waterway. Greenish-yellow, low-oxygen pollutants mix with healthy water, forming an interim state of green algal bloom. Algae lower oxygen-levels further, creating a ‘dead-zone’, forcing marine organisms to mass-migrate to oxygenated water, and concentrate into smaller regions which then become susceptible to oxygen-depletion."
The painting has been sealed with three coats of Kamar Varnish to protect the artwork and three coats of UV-protectant to resist the fading effects of UV exposure. It is sealed within the frame behind glass.
The frame has hanging equipment installed so that it is ready to hang the minute it reaches your door!
